The idea was to create an event that would keep visitors in town the weekend between the State Fair and the Reno Air Races and 43 years later\, it is known as a world-renowned\, and locally\, a beloved community tradition. \nTaking place just a few miles north of downtown Reno at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park\, the event enchants both young and old with its vibrant colors and inspiring music. At 5:30 PM\, participants will join together to raise their flags\, creating a sea of red that will serve as a striking visual display of the community’s collective stand against drunk and drugged driving. The moment will be captured by drone\, photos\, and video\, ensuring the significance of the rally is remembered for years to come. \nRed has become a recognized color in efforts to raise awareness and take a stand against impaired driving. This is our chance to show the world\, as a community\, that we are committed to making the choice to drive safely and responsibly. \nThis event is more than just a demonstration. As participants leave\, they will be handed resource cards with important numbers and services to call for a ride\, ensuring no one has to make the dangerous choice to drive under the influence.

For those of a less competitive nature\, a recreational course to mid-mountain is available. The event will also include activities in the base area including uphill demos\, a DJ and awards ceremony in the Loft Bar! Then\, the fun continues with a winter-wildlife snowshoe hike Sunday morning. \n2025 Schedule\nSaturday\, March 22\, 2025 \n\nDay-Of Registration (Beer Luggi only) – 8:00am – 12:00pm (Ticket Windows)\nOn Snow Uphill Gear Demos presented by Tahoe Mountain Sports – 10:00am – 3:00pm  (Base Lodge “Beach” by the trail map)\nRace bib pick up – 12:00pm – 4:00pm (Base Lodge Deck)\nSkiMo Race Start – 4:30pm\nAward Ceremony – 6:30pm approximately (Loft Bar)\n\nSunday\, March 23\, 2025 \n\nWinter Wildlife Snowshoe Hike\, presented by Tahoe Institute for Natural Science – 7:30am (Meet on Base Lodge Deck for a 1 mile hike followed by a presentation in the Base Lodge)\, register online\n\nRace Descriptions & Categories\n\nElite Luggi = 4.6 Miles (double lap) – Men’s & Women’s Divisions\nBig Luggi = 2.6 Miles (single lap – 1.3 miles uphill to the top) –  Men’s\, Women’s\, Men’s Masters (ages 50+)\, Women’s Masters (ages 50+)\, Youth (ages 15 & under) and Beer Luggi Divisions\nLil’ Luggi = 1.2 Miles (short course – .8 miles uphill to top of Wiggle) – Adult (16 & up)\, Youth (ages 11-15) and Child (ages 10 & under) Divisions\nBeer Luggi = Non-competitive – choose either the Big or Lil’ Luggi course and have fun. No prizes will be awarded\, but your registration includes a 16oz. Alibi beer and souvenir pint glass. Cheers!\n\nSafety note: While we love seeing the little ones at this event\, competitors carrying children in backpacks will not be allowed to participate in the race for safety reasons. Registration is scheduled to open on February 1\, with early-bird rates available through March 8. Pre-registration is required for all competitive racers – there will be no day-of registration in the competitive divisions (except kids may register day-of for the Little Luggi).
