The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection Department (NLTFPD) will be conducting a prescribed pile burn in the Diamond Peak Ski Resort on Monday and Tuesday this week, beginning at 9:00 am each day.
They will be burning approximately 50 acres over the two days, and have advised there will be visible smoke and flames throughout the evening, and piles will be monitored by NLTFPD personnel.
When conducted on a regular basis, prescribed fires help to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires by reducing the amount of leaf litter, pine needles, shrubs, and other fuels in the forest. It is an important operation that will help keep our surrounding communities safe.
