Another Flash Vote survey has dropped seeking the community’s feedback (once again) on where you would like IVGID to spend our tax dollars. We have heard Trustees speak about wanting to invest in our facilities, but with each survey sent, the dots have yet to connect between statements, surveys, and actioning budgets to do so. Maybe this will be the one to move us forward.
The first question in the survey asks community members which facilities you feel are in “good enough” shape. It is interesting they just asked about “beach areas” and not the building at Incline Beach. While there were several surveys sent earlier this year on this topic, it seems a bit of a miss to exclude it from this list.

Next they are asking for your opinion on which amenity is most important to you. Through this question, they are trying to stack rank what our community values most.

Next you will need to do a little math in a weighting exercise meant to determine where you would like your tax dollars spent. It goes without saying, but we will anyway, if you cared about losing the grant from the Duffield Foundation for the Recreation Center expansion, here is your chance to lodge your vote for that facility.

You also have an opportunity to add feedback about the capital investments you believe IVGID should be making before you hit the final SUBMIT to ensure your vote is counted. This includes investment in the building and surrounding area at Incline Beach. A couple of weeks ago, Trustee Dent said they were going to put the beach building on the agenda this November, but it was not discussed in the November 8th meeting, and it doesn’t look like they plan to meet again until December 13th. They might be able to squeak it out, but it feels like no decision will be made this year even though there has been survey after survey sent on this item.
Related to this survey, the Capital Investment Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, November 21st at 9am. Watching these meetings live or afterwards is a great way to stay informed on what is happening in and around IVGID.
- The meeting will be online, via Zoom, and you will need to check back that morning to get the details.
- The agenda for this meeting is more procedural in nature, and we hope to see that once they have a status of IVGID’s 2023/2024 budgeted/planned capital projects, they will start having robust discussions and be able to share their recommendations on where they believe our community will receive the most benefit from these investments.
