In a major win for healthcare access in our community, the Incline Village Community Hospital (IVCH) Foundation has received an extraordinary $7.8 million grant from the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation. This transformational gift, the largest in the hospital foundation’s history, will fund the IVCH Surgery Enhancement Project—an ambitious initiative to modernize and expand the hospital’s surgical capabilities.
For decades, IVCH has been a cornerstone of local healthcare, but its surgical suite—originally built in the 1980s—has struggled to keep pace with growing demand. The new enhancements will bring much-needed upgrades, allowing more patients to receive high-quality care close to home. With winter travel often complicating access to specialized surgery in other regions, this investment ensures residents can receive critical procedures without the added stress of long-distance trips.
The project will fund a new surgical procedure room, expanding capacity for existing specialties like ophthalmology, orthopedics, and gastrointestinal surgery while also paving the way for potential new service offerings. Additional improvements include modernized post-operative recovery areas, upgraded air handling systems for compliance with advanced surgical standards, and infrastructure enhancements to support future technologies like telemedicine.
In recognition of this generosity, the enhanced surgical suite will be named in honor of the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation. Meanwhile, the IVCH Foundation Board of Directors has committed to raising an additional $2 million to equip the new surgical center with state-of-the-art technology, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the North Lake Tahoe community.
This grant is more than just an investment in infrastructure—it’s a promise for a healthier future for our community. For more details on this initiative, visit the Incline Village Community Hospital website.
