As the holiday season winds down, it’s time to consider the best way to retire your festive centerpiece—the holiday tree. Recycling your tree offers numerous environmental and community benefits, helping reduce waste while contributing to sustainable practices.

Incline Village and Crystal Bay residents can take advantage of the Holiday Tree Recycling & Chipping Program to responsibly recycle their trees:

Drop-Off Location:

  • 958 Lakeshore Blvd (Incline Beach Overflow Parking Lot)
  • Open now through January 31, 2025
  • Trees of any size are accepted but must be free of decorations, nails, and stands.

Curbside Tree Collection:

  • Available January 13–17, 2025, on your regular service day.
  • Trees must be cut into segments no longer than 3 feet, cleaned of all decorations, nails, and stands.
  • Note: This service is only for Incline Village and Crystal Bay residents. Trees left curbside outside of this week will incur additional fees.

Why Recycle?

  1. Keeps Trees Out of Landfills: Recycling prevents trees from taking up landfill space, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from decomposing organic matter.
  2. Creates Useful Mulch: Recycled trees are chipped into mulch, which can be used to enrich soil, prevent erosion, and support healthy landscapes.
  3. Supports a Greener Community: Proper tree recycling ensures resources are reused efficiently, contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable environment for all.

Make your tree’s final journey a meaningful one by recycling it. Together, we can turn holiday waste into a valuable resource for our community and planet!
