Three candidates are running for two seats on the Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) Board of Trustees this November. Tonight, voters will have an opportunity to hear directly from all three before deciding who they want representing them.
The IV-CB Community Forum and Incline Village Crystal Bay Community and Business Association (IVCBA) are hosting a moderated candidate forum tonight, Tuesday, October 13th, from 6pm to 9pm at the Duffield Theater at Incline High School.
Ryan “RB” Brooks, incumbent Trustee Dave Noble, and Harry Swenson are expected to participate.
Why This Election Matters
The IVGID Board of Trustees makes decisions that reach into nearly every corner of life in Incline Village and Crystal Bay. From maintaining essential water and sewer infrastructure to managing recreation facilities, capital improvements, and the fees residents pay, the Board oversees services and assets that matter to our community.
There are important decisions ahead. Major infrastructure investments, the future of aging recreation facilities, and questions about spending priorities will require thoughtful deliberation and sound financial oversight.
The three candidates bring different professional backgrounds and perspectives on how the District should be governed. Tonight’s forum offers an opportunity to hear those differences firsthand.
How would each candidate prioritize projects when funding is limited? What does responsible financial management look like? How should the Board work with District staff while remaining accountable to the public?
These are questions worth asking before casting a ballot.
Come Prepared to Listen and Ask Questions
The forum will feature a moderated question-and-answer session with the candidates. Questions will only be accepted from people attending in person, giving residents an opportunity to raise issues that matter to them.
For those unable to attend, the forum will be broadcast live and available afterward on the IV-CB Community Forum YouTube channel.
I’ve had the opportunity to sit down individually with all three candidates for in-depth interviews, which are published here on Incline Together. Those conversations offer additional insight into their professional experience, governing philosophies, and priorities for IVGID.
After those interviews, I also published my perspective on the three candidates and who I believe is best suited to serve on the Board. I encourage readers to review the interviews, consider my observations, and draw their own conclusions.
But there is also value in hearing candidates answer the same questions, in the same room, without knowing in advance exactly what residents will ask.
Local elections deserve our attention. The decisions made by the next Board will affect how our District operates and invests in the community for years to come.
If you’re still deciding which two candidates will receive your vote, tonight is an opportunity to get a better sense of who they are, how they think, and what they believe IVGID should accomplish.
