The holidays may be behind us, but your Christmas tree still has important work to do. This week, Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) is offering free Christmas tree recycling, turning old trees into wood chips that support local forest health and wildfire resilience.
Instead of heading to the landfill, recycled trees are chipped and repurposed as mulch – helping retain soil moisture, reduce erosion, and return valuable organic material back to the forest floor. It’s a simple step that makes a meaningful difference for our environment.
How to Participate
You have two easy options to make sure your tree gets into the chipping system:
- Curbside pickup: Place your tree on the curb this week only, January 12th – 16th, on your regular trash pickup day.
- Drop-off: Bring your tree to the Incline Beach overflow parking lot at 958 Lakeshore Blvd during the collection period.
Before setting your tree out, please be sure it is completely free of decorations, lights, nails, tinsel, and tree stands. Clean trees ensure safe processing and high-quality mulch.
