Starting tomorrow, August 17, 2024, day use reservations will be mandatory for anyone planning to visit Sand Harbor. Without a reservation, you will be turned away. (Reserve now)
Here’s what you need to know to ensure a smooth visit:
- No Lining Up Early: Visitors will not be permitted to queue on the highway before the park opens, and those without a reservation will not be allowed to wait along the highway until 10:30 a.m.
- Arrive Early: If you have a reservation, plan to arrive well before 10:00 a.m. Traffic is expected to build up, and arriving later could result in delays. We recommend arriving no later than 9:30 a.m. Avoid showing up exactly at 10:30 a.m. as this will likely be a peak time for traffic.
Reservations Fully Booked: All reservations for the weekend of August 17th and 18th are currently full.
The park staff kindly asks for your patience and understanding as they navigate this new reservation system. While they’ve prepared as much as possible, they anticipate some unexpected challenges and appreciate your cooperation during this transition.
Alternative Transportation Option:
For those looking to visit Sand Harbor this summer, consider using the East Shore Express Service, which runs daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. This free shuttle service offers convenient and continuous access to the beach, helping you avoid parking hassles.
Boat Ramp Closures:
Starting August 13, 2024, the boat ramp and parking will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through the end of September. During these closure days, watercraft launches will be unavailable at Sand Harbor, but you can still launch at Cave Rock State Park on Highway 50 in Glenbrook, NV, just south of Cave Rock.
Pack your patience, plan ahead, and enjoy your time at the park as smoothly as possible!
