Democracy is hard. IVGID is struggling and it takes work to get good people elected. Perhaps we got the current  board because not enough people were paying close enough attention. We have a chance to change that now with the upcoming November election.

One Minute Briefing:

We need to get three great trustees elected to the board, to join with Dave Noble, to get IVGID back on track in a positive direction.

Michaela Tonking, Michael “Mick” Homan, and Michelle Jezycki are running. Each has the experience, values and vision that can rebuild IVGID and set it in the right direction (more details about each candidate are below).

We need your help to make this happen. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Spread the word (start with sharing this post)
  2. Volunteer
  3. Donate. Please write a check made out to “Positive Change for IVGID PAC” and mail it to this address:
    • Positive Change for IVGID PAC
      567 N Dyer
      Incline Village,  NV   89451
    • Note: Be sure your first and last name and address are on the check, and consider adding your phone number or email address in case there is an issue.

You can expect future updates; if you’re not already signed up, you can send us an email and we will add you to the email list. (Contact us through this form and please mention the trustee election)

If you have five minutes more, keep reading:

You are already aware of the current state of IVGID or you wouldn’t have been interested in the recall effort. We intend to run a positive campaign, painting a picture of what’s possible for IVGID, so I’m not going to detail all the current problems here. Instead, I want to: a) ask for your help getting them elected, and b) introduce you to the three candidates.

Here are the specific things you can do to help us get the board we really deserve:

  1. Get engaged:  learn about the candidates, the issues IVGID faces, and how a more positive IVGID is possible.
  2. Spread the word: talk to your friends, family and acquaintances; voice your opinions; demonstrate that democracy works via word-of-mouth.
  3. Host or attend a candidate meet-and-greet.
  4. Donate: I wish it were not true, but campaigns depend on money. As noted above, you can write a check made out to “Positive Change for IVGID PAC” and mail it to this address:
    • Positive Change for IVGID PAC
      567 N Dyer
      Incline Village,  NV   89451
    • Note: be sure your first and last name and address are on the check, and consider adding your phone number or email address in case there is an issue.
  5. Volunteer.  We need people willing to work to get our candidates elected. Roles include:
    • Donations: find donors and manage PAC campaign funds
    • Lawn Signs: order, distribute and track yard signs
    • Meet-and-Greets: find hosts and coordinate candidate meet-and-greets
    • Communications: create and publish ways to get our positive message out to the public.

Contact us through this form to get involved and please mention the trustee election.

We need a strong and reasonable board committed to putting the community first. That’s why we are working to re-elect Michaela Tonking with her knowledge, experience and financial acumen. Adding Mick Homan, with his strong financial leadership, and Michelle Jezycki, with her HR expertise will create the board we need and deserve. Together they will join Dave Noble, an incumbent board member, to create a “dream team;” a board that will focus on creating a better IVGID.

Here are the three great candidates we deserve:

Michelle Jezycki

(pronounced Yuh-zhih-ski)

Website: https://www.jezycki4ivgid.com/

“I’m running to apply my 30+ years in HR/Leadership to contribute to the greater care and management of our human capital, as well as physical and financial capital.”

  • Michelle grew up in Incline Village, graduated from Incline High and UNR and is committed to making a positive impact on our community.
  • Michelle moved to DC and worked for the federal government, most recently serving as the Director of HR at the U.S. Senate, before starting her own management consulting business and moving back home to Incline.
  • She is passionate and dedicated to putting the necessary focus on our IVGID staff, and rebuilding the team, culture, and morale. For Michelle, it’s personal.
  • Michelle is committed to proactive and responsible management of our assets, including recreational amenities and facilities.
  • As Michelle says, “We are better than this.”

Mick Homan

(pronounced hoe-man)

Website: https://www.homan4ivgid.com/

“I’ll work collaboratively with other Trustees and IVGID leadership to develop smart, responsible investments in both our infrastructure and our employees, positioning IVGID for long-term, sustainable success and healing the scars that have developed between the Board and IVGID’s employees and residents.”

  • Mick is a C-suite executive of a global Fortune 50 company with over 35 years of financial leadership in both industry and the public accounting profession.
  • He has extensive boardroom experience, and is a proven leader, having built and managed high performance global teams.
  • He will advocate for
    • Fiscally responsible investment in utility infrastructure/services and community-owned recreational facilities and programs to make our community an attractive place to live, work and invest.
    • The historical operating model for recreational facilities that manages and optimizes the facilities as portfolio that, along with the Recreation fee, are sustainable at the District level.
    • Rebuilding and investing in IVGID staff, making IVGID an employer of choice, and an attractive place to start and develop a successful career.

Michaela Tonking

“I have proven my commitment to IVGID and the community I grew up in.”

  • Michaela is a lifelong member of the community, and is seeking re-election to the IVGID Board.
  • Her deep roots in the community have given her a profound understanding of the challenges we face, particularly the need for IVGID to rebuild and regain stability after a period of significant turnover.
  • Michaela’s background in accounting equips her with the financial insight necessary to navigate these challenges effectively.
  • In her professional role, she collaborates with state governments and Local Education Agencies (LEAs), gaining invaluable experience in public administration.
  • This unique combination of local insight, financial expertise, and governmental experience makes Michaela the ideal candidate to lead IVGID into the next phase.

These three candidates are uniquely positioned to help IVGID rebuild and ensure this District is financially sound for decades to come.
