The IVGID waste recycling program, in partnership with Waste Management, offers curbside yard waste collection during designated pick-up periods, providing a convenient way for homeowners to recycle their yard waste at no extra cost.
When is Curbside Yard Waste Collection Available?
The curbside yard waste collection is available during two key periods: 12 weeks in the spring and four weeks in the fall. This service is provided at no additional charge to Waste Management customers.
Important Reminder: Last Day for Summer Collection
This Friday marks the last day for summer yard waste collection. Bags will be picked up on your scheduled service day, so make sure to have your yard waste ready and properly prepared for collection before then. Learn more here.
2025 Pick-Up Periods
- Spring: May 5 – July 18, 2025
- Fall: September 29 – October 31, 2025
How to Participate
To participate, simply use one of the 96 Green Waste stickers that are mailed to your billing address each spring. These stickers must be affixed to each heavy-duty 32-gallon trash bag containing yard waste. The bags should not exceed 40 pounds in weight to comply with IVGID Ordinance 1. Bags not meeting these standards will still be collected, but may incur additional fees according to the Waste Management fee schedule. Please be mindful that improperly prepared bags are also subject to formal ordinance enforcement actions.
Get Ready for the Next Cycle
Be sure to order your stickers in advance for the upcoming collection periods. Stickers are mailed to the billing address on file, so it’s essential to ensure your Waste Management account information is current. If you’re missing stickers or need more, additional stickers can be purchased by contacting Waste Management customer service.
Alternative Drop-Off Options
If you miss the curbside pickup or prefer to drop off your yard waste, you can take bagged or loose yard waste to the transfer station during regular business hours. Don’t forget, stickers are still required for drop-off.
