Recall Status: The Fight Against Due Process

The Recall Committee has been working diligently with help from community volunteers to get the number of signatures needed to recall IVGID Trustees Sara Schmitz and Matthew Dent. The number of signatures needed for each trustee is 1801.

Washoe County Board of Elections and the Secretary of State will be vetting every signature on the petitions, and some may potentially be tossed out as they are not eligible, so the goal is to exceed the required number.

Trustee Schmitz secured a copy of the first batch of signatures that were submitted as the petitions are considered public record. Further, Trustee Schmitz has taken that list and has been calling people, even going to people’s homes who have signed the petition to ask them if they would be willing to remove their signatures.

If you have been contacted by Trustees Schmitz, Dent or any of their supporters and asked to remove your name from a petition and feel this was intimidation under Nevada law, you may contact the Secretary of State to file a complaint.

The final batch of signatures will be submitted before the deadline of September 20th and an update on the next steps will be shared in the coming weeks.
