Despite our sustained efforts over recent months, we find ourselves amidst an election year. Coupled with the knowledge that neither Schmitz (who will not run again) nor Dent (who is termed out) will retain seats on the Board next year, we have decided to conclude our recall endeavors.

Appeal Filed on the Petitions to Recall IVGID Trustees Matthew Dent and Sara Schmitz
There were several questions surrounding the signature verification process performed by Washoe County, the inconsistencies of various codes that were used to reject signatures, and the opportunity for voters to cure their signatures to ensure they would be counted.

The Recall Was Successful, Mostly
Each petition required a minimum of 1,801 valid signatures in order to move this to a recall election, so the the signature verification missed the mark by 75 votes and 114 votes, respectfully. A very close call.

The Cost of a Recall Election
It is expected a recall election in Incline Village will cost $69,202.44, however, this expense will not be incurred if Trustee up for recall chooses to resign before the election is called.

Recall Status: The Curing of Signatures
The Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office has released a small list of people who signed the recall petition for either Trustee Matthew Dent or Sara Schmitz who need to verify their signature in order for their signature to be counted.
