Beginning April 15, 2025, Nevada State Parks will officially launch a day-use reservation system at Sand Harbor State Park, following the successful trial run last year. The new system aims to improve visitor experiences while protecting the park’s natural beauty and resources.
Visitors planning to enter the park by vehicle between 8:00am and 10:30am during the peak season, from April 15th to October 15th, will be required to secure a reservation in advance. After 10:30am, any unclaimed spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
To ensure fair access for all visitors, the reservation system operates on a three-tiered schedule:
- Tier One: 200 day-use reservations open 90 days in advance.
- Tier Two: 100 day-use reservations open 30 days in advance.
- Tier Three: 50 day-use reservations open 7 days in advance.
- Same-Day Reservations: Any remaining spots are available up until 10:29am without the $5 processing fee.
Reservations for the upcoming peak season will open on January 15, 2025. Visitors are encouraged to book early to secure their preferred date and time. Here are the reservation details and fees:
- Reservations: Available exclusively at www.reservenevada.com. Reservations are non-transferable, and the reservation holder must present a valid ID matching the name on the reservation upon entry.
- Processing Fee: A $5 fee applies to all reservations, except for same-day bookings made before 10:29am.
- Entrance Fees: $10 per vehicle for Nevada residents; $15 for out-of-state visitors. Fees will be added to your reservation at checkout.
- Group Use Areas: Visitors with Ramada/Group Use Area reservations are exempt from the day-use reservation requirement but must pay the standard vehicle entry fee.
- Boat Launch: Boat launch access remains first come, first served.
- Shakespeare Festival: Visitors attending the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival will need a day-use reservation for entry before 10:30am; later arrivals are unaffected.
It is important to note that if reservation holders do not enter the park by 10:30am, they forfeit their spot, which will then be available to other visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. However, they may still enter later without paying additional fees.
The reservation system will help reduce congestion, improve parking availability, and ensure that all visitors can enjoy this scenic destination to its fullest.
