Appeal Filed on the Petitions to Recall IVGID Trustees Matthew Dent and Sara Schmitz

Last week, Washoe County released the news that the petitions to recall IVGID Trustees Matthew Dent and Sara Schmitz had fallen just short of the 1,801 verified signatures needed to move this from a petition to a special election.

There were 980 signatures thrown out between the two petitions, which meant the grassroots effort missed by a total of 75 votes for Dent and 114 votes for Schmitz.

There were several questions surrounding the signature verification process performed by Washoe County, the inconsistencies of various codes that were used to reject signatures, and the opportunity for voters to cure their signatures to ensure they would be counted.

The Committees to Recall Trustees Dent and Schmitz have requested that the Nevada Secretary of State office order Washoe County Registrar to reverify the signatures.

It seems the recall efforts are far from over, and we will continue to share updates as they are made public.
