Last week, the IVGID Board of Trustees released a community survey aimed at gathering valuable feedback on the expectations regarding elected officials and the conduct of meetings. The survey, comprising five questions, stirred up considerable discussion among residents.
Concerns were raised regarding the structure and tone of the questions. Notably, one question inquired about the potential inclusion of prayer invocation, while another addressed the perception of elected officials playing favorites. Many community members took to online platforms to express their apprehensions, suggesting a noticeable bias in the survey’s formulation. Below, you’ll find one of the questions along with its corresponding options, and you can see one of the online discussions here.

For a comprehensive view of the questions posed and the diverse array of responses collected, interested individuals are encouraged to peruse the complete survey findings available online. (Survey and results)
As often observed with such surveys, the true depth of sentiment lies within the comments section. Initial feedback suggests a less-than-favorable reception, casting doubt not only on the efficacy of the survey but also on the perception of those involved in its creation.
In a bid for transparency, a public records request has been initiated to ascertain the origins of the survey and the individuals responsible for its development. (PRR 24-42)
The community remains engaged and attentive, eager to see how their feedback will be addressed moving forward.
