Many of you know the sign, it stands prominently on the side of road on Highway 50 at Spooner Summit. These fire danger signs are strategically placed along highways around Lake Tahoe to alert the public to the current fire danger rating.
Earlier this week, Forest Service fire prevention officers discovered the sign had been vandalized and Smokey Bear was missing.
The U.S. Forest Service is hoping someone saw something that will help them recover Smokey.
